Salon Secrets We Want You to Know

  1. You don’t need to wash your hair before you come to the salon.
It’s always better to come with unwashed hair – it gives our stylists the opportunity to see your hair the way it looks when you are on your own ;). Always try not to brush or stimulate the scalp prior to a color appointment. This means minimum sensitivity for on-scalp applications and gives your colorist better control of the hair. For highlighting and other foil techniques be sure to have 1- 2 day uncleansed hair..

  2. Haircuts are recommended regularly, time varies for each length.
If you have long hair, you can keep locks healthy by trimming them every 12 weeks. We recommend mid-length hair for 6 to 8 weeks. Shorter styles need to be cut three to six weeks to keep short hair in great shape, But long hair can be left for about six to eight weeks. YOU DO NOT NEED TO “CUT 2 OR MORE INCHES TO GET “HEALTHY” HAIR. On the contrary, regular trimming and shaping will keep your hair from looking dry, needing an extra product to make hair “feel” healthy!.

  3. You do not actually need to buy matching shampoo and conditioner.
It is perfectly OK to mix it up when it comes to shampoo and conditioner; you always want to do what is best for your hair. Your hair has different issues, so different conditioners and shampoos will see to it. As stylists, we mix and match. Asking your stylist for a prescription for a hair regimen is the best way to have your hair looking and performing its best just like when you leave the salon! If Your hair is fine and dry, in that case you should use a volume shampoo with a moisturizing conditioner. We can help determine if your hair is lacking moisture or protein! It is all about what your hair needs and your stylist can help you determine your hair’s needs and help to remedy the issues you may struggle with at home..

  4. It is fine to bring a picture, but please be realistic.
Every head of hair is different, every style and also head shape and lifestyle are all factors when determining your best look! Nine out of ten times it is impossible to recreate the exact look. But saying that, helps us see what you are thinking and, it allows us to know your tastes, your likes, and dislikes..

  5. Don’t overdose on purple shampoo.
Using blonde or purple shampoo and conditioner every day isn’t going to make your hair blonder. Ask us and we will advise you how often your specific blonde needs to be cooled down!.

  6. You should not leave your extensions in for longer than 12 weeks.
Extensions should not be kept in for longer than six to twelve weeks. The reason for this is you do not want to put too much tension on the hair, plus you may run into tangling and stress on the root. Also leaving it for long periods of time increases the risk of breakage and in more serious cases hair loss.

After six to eight weeks, it’s time to take the extensions out and reapply. Your extensions will be their best and your hair will stay at optimal health if you follow the guidelines your certified extension specialist gives. If you stay within six to eight weeks the risk is minimal and it is a perfectly reasonable hair maintenance program. Then you will have the thickness and beauty of hair that is runway perfect!

  7. You should deep-condition your hair after every week.
Deep condition your hair every week to put back nutrients the heat and environment remove. .. If you think this is too much for your hair, then your conditioner is not what your hair needs and you may need help determining the lack. Your hair is around so much pollution, blow-drying, and straightening; deep conditioning will put back the depleted nutrients in your hair. Every time you shampoo you should condition. You can also get salon-grade treatments at your next scheduled hair visit, as these are like prescription strength, and go deeper into the cuticle for longer-lasting results!

  8. A salon blow-dry is worth the money.
You really cannot achieve the salon blow-dry at home. You can use heated rollers or straighteners, but it’s not the same as professional styling. You can get a nice style, but it will not be like the salon. We use hair-specific professional products, techniques, and tools. Plus, unless you have four hands you will not be able to recreate the salon look 😉 (We can help with tutorials and pro tips!.

  9. It is OK to tell us you do not like your new style.
Always tell us if you are not fully satisfied We would be sad for a client to leave and never communicate they weren’t pleased. Things can always be adjusted. Call when you get home, call the next day, just let us know. Your happiness and your satisfaction with our work is our number one priority! Never assume that we would be upset or not want to help get you where you need to be! Sometimes there is miscommunication or just a hair kink that needs to be worked out… sometimes it’s just getting to know your likes and hair after the first meeting! Either way, we are here to serve YOU!
